Take a Bow

Finally this week has drawn to a close, I felt like it was going on forever! To end off this Friday, I wanted to show you another look I wore last weekend where I combined a 'last season' summer dress into a spring baby, so I could still get some wear out it. I bought this cute dress late last summer so I didn't even get that much wear out of it then. Its so pretty with the pink bow detail and I didn't want to distract from that, so I kept the white colour theme throughout the dress and only highlighted the pink again by pairing this look with my amazing heels that I wore for Eid. I didn't take pictures properly that day, so I wanted to do a look with them again.

I really have become so lazy bones lately when it comes to my hair and really can't be bothered about straightening it all the time. Warmer weather definitely makes it easier to wear this way, as I can leave the waves to be and they dry quickly. After that, I straighten out the front bits a little bit to avoid looking like orphan Annie and run frizz control serum through the lengths.

Hope you enjoy this look :) Kisses!

Under the Cover

Hey everyone! This is just a quick post to show you my latest modelling 'stint' that I did a couple of months ago. The magazine came out a few days ago and I was very excited to see the finished product.

The shoot was with FairLady Magazine and focused on transforming everyday girls (like myself) into Cover Girls. We were pampered and fussed over, hair and makeup done by professionals and were presented with a great wardrobe to choose from.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I am very thankful to FairLady Magazine for the opportunity. Enjoy the pics below..

COVERGIRL :)

But let me start at the beginning...

Ok, so no one told me that my picture would be taken when I got there, so this is how I showed up. Just jumped out of bed, no makeup and hair not brushed lol! Bleak..

Century!

Hey Everyone! Im happy and proud to report that this is my 100th Post! Can hardly believe it since it feels like just the other day that I started this Blog :) Im so thrilled and grateful to all the amazing readers/bloggers/followers that I have 'met' on this journey. It sounds silly, but sometimes I really feel as if I know you guys. I guess in a way we do, as I am constantly interacting with you all through this blog, facebook or twitter. Its pretty amazing :)

So I have two important things to mention:

Liebster Blog Award:

Steffy from the blog Steffy's World (www.steffysworld.com) has awarded the Liebster Blog Award to me! The award is bestowed upon newbie bloggers with under 200 followers on GFC (Google Friend Connect - Join me there!). It aims at getting bloggers to know one another and Im so honoured. Thank you Steffy! :)

The terms & conditions:
- I need to write 11 things about myself.
- I need to answer Steffy's 11 questions for me.
- I can choose up to 11 bloggers and link them in this post.
- Notify the aforementioned bloggers on their page.
- No tag backs.

Here Goes:

11 Things about my Myself:

1) My star sign is Scorpio and I have a temper to match!

2) My Dad is of Indian descent and my Mum is Cape Malay. The best of both worlds! :)

3) I love Nature and I love watching documentaries, even more than series.

4) I have a Law degree and have been practising as an Attorney for 6 years.

5) Im a complete neat freak and feel unsettled unless my world is picture perfect.

6) I have 2 younger sisters.

7) I was a complete dork at school and only dated a guy properly for the first time when I was 20!

8) During my teenage years, I was in love with Keanu Reeves and even wrote him a love letter confessing my feelings and sent it. Embarassing!!

9) I always thought fashion bloggers were ridiculous and never ever thought I would be one! Eating my words now ;)

10) Bitchiness between women and cruelty to animals are two things I cannot stand!

11) My cat's name is Pasta because I love Pasta!

Steffy's questions for me:

1. How long have you been blogging for?
I only started my Blog in late February 2012 so am very happy with how its progressed thus far.

2. What made you decide to start blogging?
I was posting my looks to Facebook until a friend suggested I start a Blog. I still had my doubts until one of the owners of an online fashion store also made the same comment and added that I was born to blog! ;)

3. Who are your favorite bloggers?
Chiara Ferragni from the The Blonde Salad is my favourite blogger and one of the first big blogs I started following. I also am blown away by Thirstythought by Kryz Uy - her style is inspirational!

4. What are your favorite fashion magazines?
I actually tend not to read too many anymore. The articles regularly border on shallow and trends seem recycled. I prefer checking out Bloggers now. I buy the occassional Vogue and Harper's Bazaar for international inspiration.

5. What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion is a way of life to me. It's not something I get 'dressed up' for or spend alot of money on. I make the most of what I've got to the best of my ability to express the real Siyaam.

6. How many times a day do you check your blog?
Practically the entire day as I get all notifications to my Blackberry.

7. Who is your fashion icon?
Loving Kate Middleton, Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone right now. I don't dress like any of them, but just take inspiration from how they wear clothing that suits them and highlights their individuality. All 3 of them always look ladylike, elegant and sophisticated though, which I admire.

8. What make-up brand do you use?
Anything and everything! Not loyal to one particular brand and love trying out new products.

9. Favorite online fashion retailers?
Diligo Online Store, Mr Price Online, Asos and Amiclubwear.

10. What is the one beauty product you can't live without?
Eyeliner. I look like death!

11. What beauty secret would you like to share?
That your best bet to looking great in the future is really to take care of your face and body from the inside out. Makeup and beauty products can only do so much, but true results will show in whether you exercise, eat healthily and keep your stress levels at a minimum.
I nominate the following Bloggers for the award:

Love MaryLu
www.lovemarylu.com

The Perry Book
www.theperrybook.com

Just Pursue It
www.suelevy.co.za

My questions for them:
1. In what way does your Blog represent you?
2. What do you hope to achieve through blogging?
3. If you could raid someone's closet, whose would it be?
4. What do advertisers/promoters need to know when approaching bloggers?
5. What abilities of yours make you feel most confident?
6. Which ones make you feel most insecure?
7. Tips for a great blog?
8. What is your greatest fear?
9. What makes you the happiest?
10. What are your favourite trends of 2012?
11. What does Love mean to you?
And that's my little interview ;)

Colour Indiscretions

Discreet is not how I would describe these  heels from www.amiclubwear.com, hence the Post Title. They are loud, crazy, colour blocked beautiful and I love them :) Amiclubwear is a great online stop for trendy and sexy fashion at affordable prices. I particularly love their dresses and statement heels.

This weekend I wore them with a summer dress of mine from last season, but covered it up with this cute peplum top from Adam&Eve Clothing. The dress is sleeveless so I simply pulled this top over and voila! suitable for cooler weather. I quite love the Adam&Eve clothing collections which they describe as structured prettiness, fun quirkiness all while remaining sophisticated. They are a ready to wear Cape Town designer label which aims to make South African fashion not only accessible, but preferable.

This whole look turned out to be really fun, although not something I would have usually attempted. I was pleasantly surprised. Hope you enjoy the pictures :)

A Forum for Peplum

I love Peplum. I really do. Everything about it. I have no idea why I havnt dived right into the trend until now. Its so flattering! The silhouette of a flared ruffle added to the waist has struck a cord with designers and has made a comeback on the catwalk. The added ruffle adds that ladylike element to any outfit. It slims the waistline while still accentuating one's curves. I fail to see the problem! ;)

There seem to be 2 kinds of peplum: fitted and flared. If you want to show off an hourglass figure (like me), choose a fitted peplum style. A flared peplum design on the other hand will add curves to those hips which need it, for those with more straight-shaped bodies.

I chose a fitted like peplum skirt for Eid this year and Im happy to report that I loved wearing it! It hides all the wrong areas and highlights the good ones, so I felt very comfortable the whole day. Peplum is so fun, so jolly, and one of those trends that not only string beans can wear. I kept my look simple in white but teamed the dress with these fun shoes from Mr Price Online.

Apologies in advance as these are not the best photos to show off this outfit. My day was very busy and I hardly had time to shoot it properly, but I'll definitely be wearing this dress again soon, so not to worry.

Do you have any peplums items making an appearance in your closet? Send me pics or an email at allysiyaam@gmail.com
Kisses!
